Athens Crawls in Chaos, 2013

“Athens Crawls in Chaos” is an artistic project aiming to highlight the storytelling characteristics of the urban space in the city of Athens.
Based on H.P. Lovecraft’s “The Crawling Chaos”, this project attempts to recreate the atmosphere of the tale. The sites Lovecraft describes are matched to nodes in Athens, based on the phychogeographical elements of the tale and the city itself. Anyone that visits the specific nodes would come across a QR code that provides the excerpt from the story, the alternated view of the place and a map that leads to the next node in the tale.

The artistic concept and all paintings (acrylics on printed cardboard) are made by Christina Chrysanthopoulou and the photos were shot in collaboration with John Papadatos.

“Athens Crawls in Chaos” was exhibited at the metamatic taf gallery Athens in 2016, during the exhibition “Dream Minds in Virtual Bodies”.
